Anthony Varchetto, Co-Founder of Blue Star Security and President of Protos Security’s Specialized Services Division, told Reuters that hotels frequently focus resources on external threats while underestimating dangers from registered guests. “This is a common oversight,” Varchetto said. “People get complacent, they understaff and a lot of it comes down to budget.”
A retired Chicago Police Sergeant with more than two decades in law enforcement, Varchetto spent his career across gang, tactical, and narcotics units, as well as on a DEA task force. Today, he oversees security operations across high-risk, high-traffic environments where prevention is the entire job.
