Building a Stronger Security Strategy Across Hotel Properties

Hotel security looks different at every property, but operators with multiple locations face the added challenge of creating consistent security standards while accounting for the unique risks and needs of each hotel.

In a recent feature from Security Journal Americas, Dan Acker, Senior Director of Service at Protos Security, shares insights into how hotel operators can build a security program that balances consistency with flexibility. The article explores strategies including working with vetted local security providers, maintaining centralized oversight, strengthening incident reporting and using remote monitoring to provide greater visibility across a portfolio.

Dan also discusses how scalable staffing and portfolio-wide intelligence can help hotel operators identify trends across properties. By looking beyond individual incidents and examining patterns, security teams can better understand emerging risks and take proactive steps to address them.

The conversation also highlights the broader business impact of hotel security. Research cited in the article links crime in the areas surrounding hotels with lower revenue per available room and less favorable guest reviews. A strong security program therefore plays an important role in more than protecting guests and employees. It can also help safeguard a hotel’s reputation, guest experience and long-term business.
